"Come across You Again" is a song by American state music artist Carrie Underwood. It was written by Underwood, Hillary Lindsey, and David Hodges. It was released as the fourth and final unmarried from Underwood's 4th studio anthology, Blown Away, on April xv, 2013. Underwood announced the single on her official Twitter account.[i]

Underwood debuted the song on the twelfth flavour of American Idol on Apr 4, 2013.[2] "See You Again" is Underwood'southward eighteenth consecutive Acme ten single on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and is also her seventeenth single to be certified at least Gold by the RIAA. Every bit of December 2013, the unmarried has sold 740,000 copies in the United States.[iii] On August 10, 2015, "See You Again" was officially certified as Platinum.[4]

Content [edit]

"Come across You Again" tells the story of moving onwards after experiencing the death of a loved one in life. The lyrics provide promise and promise through Underwood's belief that one will reunite with every fallen loved i in the afterlife. The song'south opening consists of a solo piano, followed past a backing chorus and band kicking in shortly subsequently.

"See Yous Again" was originally ane of 3 songs written for the 2010 feature flick The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Of the three songs that Underwood, Hodges, and Lindsey co-wrote for the picture, the workers behind the project opted to choose "There's a Place For U.s.." Underwood pushed to include "Meet Yous Again" on her fourth studio album, Blown Abroad, during the writing process of the album.

See Y'all Again is written in the central of A-flat major, with a vocal range from F3 to D 5.[5]

Critical reception [edit]

The vocal has received positive reviews from music critics. Billboard.com described the vocal to be "truly a taste of heaven."[2] Kevin John Coyne of Country Universe included the song in his personal favorite tracks from the Blown Away studio anthology in the website'southward 2012 yr-stop countdown of editors' favorite Country albums of the year,[6] as did Matt Bjorke of Roughstock for their album countdown.[7] Liv Carter of Urban State News gave the song a "thumbs up", adding "what pulls it over the line even so, and presumably why it has become a fan-favorite, is its sincerity in wishing to bring comfort and Underwood's confident performance."[viii] Jonathan Keefe of Camber Mag was less favorable, saying that "the chorus of power carol "See You Again" is marred by dated, campy arena-rock clichés."[9]

Commercial performance [edit]

The song debuted at No. threescore on the US Country Airplay chart for the calendar week of April thirteen, 2013,[10] and peaked at No. 2 for the chart dated September 7, 2013.[11] It entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 90 for the nautical chart dated May eighteen, 2013,[12] and peaked at No. 34 for the chart of Baronial 31, 2013.[thirteen] Information technology also peaked at No.7 on the Hot Country Songs chart on Baronial 24, 2013. As of Dec 2013, the unmarried has sold 740,000 copies in the United States.[three]

On August 10, 2015 "Come across You Again" was officially certified every bit Platinum.[4]

Live Performances [edit]

Underwood performed the song in May 2018 during an episode of American Idol in which she mentored the acme v contestants.[14] The vocal was included in the setlist for the Cry Pretty Tour.[15]

On June 7, 2013, Good Morning time America gave a first expect for the music video for "See You Again". The full video premiered soon later on on ABCNews.com.[17] The music video was directed by Eric Welch.[18] It showed the aftermaths of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, the September 11 attacks and the 2013 Moore, Oklahoma, tornado, along with diverse reunions.
